When you think of the word's fastest most exotic cars you'll most like think of Italian names that end in an "I" like Maserati, Ferrari, and of course Lamborghini.
If you really know your Italian super cars there's one other "I" name that comes to mind.
That name is Balboni, as it Valentino Balboni.
He's the guy that's outlived all of the fast and famous Italian men that now lend their last name to some of Italy's and the world's fastest cars.
He is the long time test driver for the Lamborghini factory and he's driven every Lamborghini ever made.

Lamborghini to be E85 Compatible
According to Car and Driver magazine, Lamborghini will soon be introducing a new generation of vehicle. This new generation Lamborghini will end the production of having a manual transmission and will be E85 compatible.
Maurizio Reggiani, the director of research and development at Lamborghini, says in an interview with the magazine that they will likely follow Ferrari in ending their manual transmission. He stated that manual transmissions are fitted to less than five percent of the firm’s cars. Other technologies to be implemented are systems like stop/start capability to thrift fuel in urban settings, cylinder deactivation – the V10 and V12 will then operate on half as many cylinders, E85 compatibility, and even a mild-hybrid solution.
Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by manufacturing magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini. It has changed ownership numerous times since, most recently becoming a subsidiary of German car manufacturer AUDI AG (itself a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group).

Peter Hackett Starts GT Championship In Superb Form
VodkaO Racing Lamborghini Gallardo driver Peter Hackett dictated the Lamborghini pace in the 2010 Australian GT Championship season opener on the streets of Adelaide after a superb debut performance with his new car and team.
The former Australian open wheeler champion driver set top ten lap times in practice in his first competitive drive of his exotic Lamborghini Gallardo, making him the fastest Lamborghini driver in the bumper 31 car GT field. The 29 year old followed his practice form by claiming the first Pole position of the new GT Championship season on Friday in Adelaide. Hackett's fastest lap time of 1:24.3872s was over 2/10ths of a second clear of Porsche GT3 997 Cup Car driver Max Twigg and over 4/10ths of a second ahead of defending Australian GT Champion David Wall, also in a Porsche.
In the first of three Clipsal 500 support races, a start line mishap saw Hackett drop from first to fourth and despite suffering some damage in the opening lap melee for positions, he retained a strong fourth place through to the completion of the 11 lap race.
Saturday's second race saw Hackett once again in speedy form, clearly setting the fastest pace of any of the Lamborghini drivers in the impressive GT field to take his first podium finish of the 2010 season in third place.
The final GT Championship race of the Clipsal 500 weekend saw Hackett once again take the fight to the leaders, with another strong third place behind David Wall and Dodge Viper driver Greg Crick.
According to Hackett - "I spent the entire Clipsal 500 weekend learning about my car as it is very different to drive in comparison to my past experience with the Diablo. We made heaps of progress throughout practice,qualifying and in the three races and we were clearly the fastest Lamborghini team in the field. So to head to the Grand Prix with a Pole position and two podium results and be third in the Championship is a great start to my first full time season of racing in two years."

Video: Lambo on ice
Who needs tarmac when you've got a ski slope to play with? Oh, and a modified 560bhp Lamborghini Gallardo with a full tank of fuel.
Reiter Engineering - purveyor of ballistic Lambo race cars - is showcasing its range of body mods in a totally scientific fashion... by ragging the nuts out of a Gallardo at the base of a ski slope.
Just in case you're wondering, Reiter's Gallardo Strada sports widened carbon fibre wings, new grille, enlarged side skirts and a massive rear wing known to cause young gentlemen problems in that ‘special area'.
So cue the (rather poor-quality) video. Watch the blokes in hats looking at stuff in a not-at-all-scientific way - checking out the tyres to make sure there's like, rubber and stuff; padding the snow to make sure it isn't talcum powder, and so forth.
And then cue a minute of powersliding greatness as the Lambo is ragged to within an inch of its life. We like.

The owner of this Murcielago appears to be a model of frugality, however, opting to take the most cost-effective exit from a car park in an audacious move caught on video.
At 113.5cms tall, the Lambo is not the only car that can perform such tricks. Here at PH we know somebody who's achieved very similar results leaving the Cavendish Square car park in central London. The car that 'slipped under the radar' that time was a Caterham, saving the impoverished motoring hack in question at least a couple of decent meals...

Italian sports car marque Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the stunning LP 570-4 Superleggera – a new addition to the company's popular Gallardo range.
The standout feature of the LP570-4 - aside from that shocking luminous green paint-job, that is? Its significant performance levels – a blisteringly fast top speed of 202mph and an equally impressive 0-62mph of 3.4 seconds leave little to be desired.
This superior speed arrives as a result of Lambo's focus on giving its latest Gallardo model more power but less weight. To this end, the 5.2-litre V10 engine found in other Gallardo models now generates 562bhp and 540Nm of torque. And in terms of weight reduction, the utilisation of polycarbonate (rear windshield, transparent engine cover) and carbon fibre (rear diffuser, rear spoiler) components brings the weight down by a more than substantial 154lbs. Weight Watchers would be proud!
Lamborghini's handiwork has clearly paid off as the LP 570-4 Superleggera is officially the most powerful Gallardo to date. We certainly wouldn't mind getting our hands on one and taking it for a spin – without the crazy green finish, mind!

Lamborghini proposes opening a factory for electric cars in Montenegro
Tonino Lamborghini finished a very satisfactory trip to Montenegro this week. His visit was to consider the opening of an electric car factory. The proposed plan is to open a factory in conjunction with the government to manufacturer 1000 electric cars a year. This factory would have a possibility of expansion in the future. Tonino Lamborghini is the son of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of Lamborghini cars.

2010 Geneva Auto Show: the Lamborghini LP 670-4 SV
There was so much fuss made over the awesome new Gallardo 570-4 Superleggera and its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, that the ‘other’ Lamborghini was somewhat forgotten. The Lamborghini LP 670-4 SV is based on the Murciélago and this tuned V12-powered Supercar offers 30 more horsepower than the standard Murciélago along with chassis refinements amounting to roughly 220lbs of weight reduction.
The refinements made to the 670-4 allows this super-Lamborghini to reach a top speed of 209.4mph with “the big wing” (shown in the gallery below) and 212.5mph with the standard low profile wing, although the big wing (that’s actually what Lamborghini calls it on their website) adds downforce to stabilize the car at high speed but that added downforce takes away a touch of the top end.

2010 Geneva Motor Show: 2011 Lamborghini 570-4 Superleggera
Sadly, I didn’t make the trip to Geneva for the first major European auto show of the year but when Lamborghini debuted the new 2011 Gallardo 570-4 Superleggera this morning, I fell in love all over again. I make no bones about the fact that I absolutely love the current Lambo styling and the front end styling cues taken from the Reventon, combined with more power and less weight than the previous Superleggera, the Lamborghini lineup just keeps getting better.
The super aggressive Reventon-like front fascia combined with the wild rear splitter gives the 2011 Superleggera better aerodynamics and thanks to the rampant use of carbon fiber, the 2011 570-4 weighs in 199lbs less than the 2007 Superleggera. The new 570-4 is powered by the same 5.2L V10 offering 561 horsepower – up from the 523 horsepower offered in the 2007 Superleggera. Of course, the interior has the same high end luxury trim that you would expect from any Italian Supercar maker with a state of the art sound system giving you an option in case you get tired of listening to the purr of the Gallardo’s V10.
561 horsepower…2954 lbs…sexy Lamborghini design…this brand new Gallardo trimline is amazing. I wish that I had gotten to see this car in Detroit or Chicago but maybe they will bring it across the pond to show it off in New York later this month. There has been no MSRP given yet, but if you have somewhere in the area of $300,000 USD laying around, you can call your neighborhood area Lamborghini dealership, such as Suburban Exotic Motorcars of Troy.
