Continuing our online stream of the automotive-related ads of the Super Bowl XLV, we now have a trio of teaser spots from Mercedes-Benz, which will be making its first advertising appearance at the game. According to the German automaker, four new models will be featured in the ads, with two of them making their world debut in the 60-second-long spot called 'Welcome'. You can watch the two teaser spots plus the making of the 'Welcome' commercial right after the break. Read more »
Paying $3 million or more for a Super Bowl ad could be a stretch for automakers, even though the economic climate is slowly improving. However, according to New York advertising executives Peter Gardiner of Deutsch Inc. and Andy Donchin of Carat North America, a record audience is expected for this year’s game, which means that, overall, manufacturers might end up with a bargain.Read more »
Less than a month ago, we broke the story on the leaked brochure of the Honda Fit Shuttle. Today, the Japanese automaker came out with an official announcement revealing a cropped image of the car and stating that the larger and more practical version of the Fit (otherwise known as the Jazz) will go on sale in Japan this March.
The new Fit Shuttle will be available in Japan with a similar engine lineup to the hatchback version including a conventional 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a hybrid variant featuring a 1.3 liter gasoline unit and a 10 KW electric motor.
Honda did not say whether the Fit Shuttle will be offered exclusively in Japan or if it will make its way to other markets as well. Follow the break for more pictures.
Citing "outstanding interest" and "numerous requests", Ferrari has unleashed a handful of additional photos of its new flagship four-seat GT, the FF. This is the second time after the initial presentation of the supercar in late January that the Italian firm has published pictures of its first-ever all-wheel drive model, yet somehow we still haven't seen the car in its entire form. In this latest batch, we get to see a very lightly camouflaged black prototype and a final model in Ferrari's traditional red color, both fooling around in the snow. Read more »
Amari Supercars is known as one of the largest pre-owned supercar dealers in the UK. They have combined tuning and lifestyle within Amari Design. Their first project is this Lamborghini Gallardo Invidia Edition.
Under the hood the power output for the 5.0 liter V10 is increased from 513bhp up to a massive 740bhp. No information is available on what they exactly changed to the engine. Amari Design states that all engine tuning is performed in-house by their own Amari Service garage headed by master technician John Greatorex who Amari states is in the UK’s top 5 supercar mechanics.
The Italian sports car received a restyled front bumper fascia, carbon fiber front lip, complete front fenders, quarter panels, side skirts, rear bumper fascia, carbon fiber diffuser, carbon fiber rear spoiler and stainless steel exhaust system.
The interior got a decent carbon fiber trim which is available in a range of different color weaves plus the carbon fiber racing seats trimmed in Alcantara.
Jay Leno today gives us a rare glimpse into the Lamborghini Section of his Big Dog Garage, where his two Miuras share space with a Countach and an Espada. Must be nice, eh? As much as we love those Italian steeds, the subject of today's visit to the garage is the awesome, flat black, fighter jet-inspired Reventón.
Specifically, we're ogling number 007 of 20 Reventón supercars that Lamborghini produced after the tremendous reception the car received after being introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. All 20 of these cars were delivered to paying customers, so the only way to get one now is to go out on the open market... and, for what it's worth, 007 is for sale.
Because this car is privately owned (and not by Jay), the late night comedian and automotive enthusiast went a bit easy on it, eschewing burnouts for rolling full-throttle starts. No matter, the sound from that 650-horsepower 6.5-liter V12 engine is plenty intoxicating, and judging by how it jets away from the camera car, it's plenty fast. See for yourself in the video after the break.
While the Geneva Auto Show is capturing all the buzz right now, this week the Qatar Motor Show is the place to be. Alongside several debuts from Volkswagen, Lamborghini has unveiled an all new model.
No, it’s not the highly anticipated successor to the Murcielago. Instead, Lambo unwrapped a new special edition version of the Gallardo. Called the LP560-4 Bicolore, this new version of Lambo’s best-selling model is build specifically for the Euro and Asian markets, with the same trim set to be offered in North America – but on the rear-drive LP550-2 model.
Like the Special Edition first-gen Gallardo, this model gets a gloss black roof, pillars, front air intakes and front spoiler. This contrasts with the standard paint color, which is available several hues: yellow, orange, silver, blue or white. Also outside the newest Lambo gets special titanium-finish wheels, while the interior gets black leather with contrasting stitching that matches the exterior paint.
